Excerpt from National Alliance for Education Freedom: The Ongoing Crisis of Social Studies in Texas Education: A Call for Change
The events that unfolded at the State Board of Education from September 8 to 19 clearly illustrate the deep-seated corruption present in Texas, highlighting significant rifts within the board; those knowledgeable about social studies recognize that the agency remains entrenched in its radical agenda, particularly evident in the development of content that contradicts established educational standards.
The recent framework proposal from the Texas Education Agency (TEA), though modified, reveals a troubling alignment with bureaucratic and globalist agendas that undermine the integrity of social studies education. Our team was unsurprised by the persistent influence of the agency and the fake nonprofit Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF), which embeds a decadent, politically driven framework into the curriculum. While the original proposal was altered, the board has incorporated detrimental elements, including a sequence that prioritizes the superficial allure of “Texas bluebonnets” and meaningless statistical metrics over substantive historical context. Most concerning is the disproportionate emphasis on culture, religion, technology, and innovation—topics that introduce terminology misaligned with the discipline’s core and the established framework. This approach risks diluting the comprehensive study of humankind’s history, catering to bureaucratic interests rather than fostering a meaningful understanding of our past.
The framework championed by Evelyn Brooks, which was both exceptional and overlooked, represented the optimal direction for the board; however, entrenched political dynamics and differing agendas blinded the SBOE members to the true value of the proposal.
